EDU360: Integrated Remedial Education

EDU360 was formed in 2015 by two passionate and committed teachers, attempting to make a difference in the lives of students requiring remedial support. We assist students, parents and schools to manage learning difference. Better.

Justin, a remedial specialist teacher from the UK, spotted a gap in the remedial school market in 2014. He envisioned the potential of a skills-based teaching and learning facility, specifically supporting the remedial ADD, ASD and SpLD communities. In 2016, Jacqui joined the EDU360 public benefit company as Principal Director. She has formalised EDU360’s Vocational Academy and StepBEYOND High School. Her specialist knowledge of the curriculum – both, vocational and mainstream options, assists and supports remedial students and families to discuss, navigate and transition between academic and vocational opportunities.

The EDU360 vision is proving popular and our team is growing and working hard to realise our dream of providing quality remedial education experiences; which are structured, integrated and accessible to all our students with a specific learning difference.

We offer two distinct, yet complimentary services to the remedial community:
• EDU360 Vocational Academy (opened 2017, students 14+ years old, Gr 9+)
• EDU360 StepBEYOND High School (opening 2018, scholars Gr 8 & Gr 9)

Applications are open for 2018

EDU360 is different
EDU360 offers quality learning opportunities in a modern classroom 2.0 layout – providing our students with the tools and support needed to manage their personal learning difference. Our research based teaching strategy outpaces ‘assisted learning’ as a long-term learning strategy, and we encourage independent and confident learning as a priority.

We are different because we are small enough to offer a personalised classroom service and big enough to draw on the collective strengths of the brightest minds in the industry.

EDU360 has 4 key objectives
• To provide a quality remedial schooling experience.
• To provide skills-based teaching with educational and clinical remediation opportunities.
• To provide accessible learning opportunities to students with special education needs.
• To integrate support skills between schooling, educational and clinical remediation departments.

Our students
EDU360 welcomes students and their families to our professional remedial education services. Our school and academy supports students to manage their underlying learning difference themselves.

Some of the learning areas that we support include:

• Anxiety disorders
• Dyslexia,
• Dyspraxia
• Social and emotional difficulties

Importantly, EDU360 provides a safe, caring and nurturing environment to support students and their families. We want our students to reach their potential as functional members of society.

Choosing a remedial high school
Choosing a suitable remedial school is a serious matter. Every parent is anxious about their child’s schooling at some point, and choosing the most appropriate remedial school is no different from choosing a mainstream school. A further complication is the fact that registered remedial schooling options are limited in South Africa, and that a multitude of confusing special education options may add additional expense and complexity to an already challenging decision. Fortunately, EDU360 has an option for you.

Introducing StepBEYOND high school
EDU360 is pleased to announce the launch of our StepBEYOND High School in January 2018. Our remedial school is registered and licenced with the GDE (Gauteng Department of Education) and launches with two Grade 8 classes, two Grade 9 classes and one Grade 8 Preparation Class. A quality teaching programme, set in purpose-built classrooms, distinguishes our offering as world class. Parents are raving about our innovative interior design.

Our academics
We follow the mainstream CAPS curriculum and all our remedial teachers are appropriately qualified, certified and experienced educators. StepBEYOND School will run progressively from Grade 8 & 9 upwards, adding a new grade each year: Grade 10 in 2019, Grade 11 in 2020 and Grade 12 in 2021.

Our Grade 8 preparation option is popular
Our Grade 8 preparation class offers a bridging solution for scholars that have completed Grade 7 and are not yet ready for Grade 8. It serves as an optional and well-structured opportunity for recapping and consolidating Grade 8 entry-level skills. This option provides reassurance to parents who understand the importance of moving onwards and upwards to a high school environment with the security of a safety net. Parents love our approach – offering a more mature high school setting with the security and structure of a primary school setting.

Reintroducing our vocational academy

The thinking behind our Vocational Academy is simple. We provide a personalised learning programme with specialist SEN support, for students 14 years and older, with a Grade 9+ pass. This provides an accredited qualification that replaces Grade10 – 12. From the outset of our plan, we recognised that the mainstream curriculum and schooling environment is not for everyone.

Of equal importance, we realise that accredited vocational courses provide formalised and worthwhile opportunities for employment and further study for our students with barriers-to-learning. We are committed to providing our students with relevant knowledge, skills and values to graduate our academy as job-ready, independent and productive members of society.

We offer two Vocational Programmes:
Full Time Study
 - Early Child Developmen
Our students will learn to:
Plan and prepare for Early Childhood Development.

• Facilitate and monitor development of babies, toddlers and young children.

• Provide care and support to babies, toddlers and young children.

Full Time Study - IT Technical Support

In this Programme our students will achieve the following outcomes:
Our students achieve an entry level qualification with further study opportunities in the Information Technology Field.
Our students will be job-ready for initial employment opportunities in the computer industry.
• This popular qualification is in demand and provides an introductory level of understanding about computer industry concepts. Our students are able to work in areas of information technology.

Our Vocational Programmes are:

• Full-time (8am to 3:30 pm)

• 3 years duration (4 terms)
Personalised in small classes (max 8 students)
• Specific to learning needs (high support offered)
